जब तलक ज़िंदा था उसका वतन पूछते रहे 
आज मर कर वो सारे जवाब दे गया 

अब पूछते रहना तेरा मुल्क क्या है मुनव्वर  
जिरह करने वाला वो सुखनवर ख़ामोश हो गया 

सुपुर्द-ए-ख़ाक हुआ जब उसका कफ़न 
मिट्टी से मिल मुन्नव्वर ख़ुद मुल्क हो गया 

लगा देना CAA,NRC अब उसकी मज़ार पर,
मुनव्वर  राणा आज यक़ीनन हिंदुस्तानी हो गया

Munawwar Rana wrote about 'mothers' and 'mitti'. He cared for his motherland as much as any other Hindustani, yet he was attacked, called anti-national and asked to move to Pakistan, for speaking his mind. Funny thing is: Rana’s poetry is so deeply, stubbornly Indian that even Pakistanis would say - “Bhai, this one belongs to you.”
